Nashi pear, yuzu, mikan mandarin and jasmine tea shape the Japanese-inspired character of Momotarō Kizaru. Together with juniper, they form the aromatic foundation of this German craft gin. The bottle contains 0.5 litres at 42% alcohol.

The botanicals for the Momotarō range are selected by hand and macerated, giving each ingredient time to release its aromas. Slow, gentle distillation completes the extraction process. Kizaru works well in a gin and tonic and can also be served as a spritz with peach lemonade.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, fresh yuzu and mikan mandarin mingle with juicy nashi pear and floral jasmine tea notes.
• Palate: On the palate, juicy nashi pear meets the citrus notes of yuzu and mikan mandarin. Jasmine tea adds floral accents to the fruit.
• Finish: The finish reveals a light jasmine tea note.

Distillery/Bottler:

Destille Kaltenthaler in Westhofen lies in the Rheinhessen wine-growing region. The family business is run by the third generation, with Felix Georg Kaltenthaler as managing director. Its brands include Momotarō Spirits, whose gins combine Japanese flavour inspiration with production in Rheinhessen.

The brand name recalls the Japanese legend of Momotarō, the peach boy. In the story, a childless couple finds a peach from which a boy emerges. He later sets out with animal companions to protect people from monsters. This tale provides the cultural background to the gin range.
