Mother Mesccia Pure Single Rum (Haiti & Monaco by Velier)

Special features: Mother Mesccia is a unique rum that combines the rugged flavors of Haiti with the precise craftsmanship of Monaco. Born from the collaboration between Prince Albert II of Monaco and renowned rum expert Luca Gargano, this rum merges the tradition of the historical "Mesccia" culture of Monaco with modern distillation art. The name "Mother Mesccia" refers to the original tradition of the 17th century, where Caribbean rum was blended with Marsala or Vermouth. This reinterpretation lays the foundation for a future series of bottlings that have matured in casks of liqueur wines.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Fresh and delicate, this rum reveals aromas of pure sugarcane juice, accompanied by subtle notes of white flowers and green apple.
  • Palate: Elegant and herbal, with flavors of kaffir lime, acacia honey, and a refreshing hint of cucumber.
  • Finish: Complex and lingering, with nuances of bagasse, white pepper, and almond.

Distillery/Bottler: Mother Mesccia is bottled by Velier, a company known for its high-quality rum bottlings. The distillation takes place in two steps: First, the rum is traditionally distilled over wood fire in Haiti from Cristalline sugarcane juice by Michel Sajous in Saint-Michel-de-l’Attalaye. This is followed by a second distillation in the only distillery in the Principality of Monaco, where the rum develops its final character.
