Special Features:

Sea Mist matured for four years and eleven months and is bottled at 47%. This single malt is made from peated and unpeated barley. The largest proportion matures in ex-bourbon casks made from American oak, complemented by a small proportion of whisky from ex-Pineau des Charentes casks.

The whisky combines moderate smoke with vanilla, citrus and fresh fruit. Creamy caramel and sweetness enhanced by the Pineau component bring additional roundness to its maritime, savoury character.

Ripe pear, light malt and caramel shape the aroma beneath a delicate veil of smoke. Salty maritime notes, smoke, malt and camphor-like spice lead on the palate before the long development fades with peppery and malty notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Myken Distillery produces Sea Mist itself and releases it as a distillery bottling. Every stage of production, cask maturation and bottling takes place in the old fishing village of Myken, 32 kilometres off the northern Norwegian coast. The distillery uses desalinated seawater, distils slowly in small copper pot stills and matures its whiskies in a warehouse known as “The Whisky Cathedral”.

Roar Larsen and Trude Tokle founded the distillery in 2014 after weather conditions left them stranded on Myken during a sailing trip. The distillery project grew from their search for a new future for the small island community.
