For this Tatanka edition, Neisson's classic Rhum Vieux is bottled at 45% in a bottle hand-painted by artists from Martinique. The design depicts a cooper, making a direct connection to work on casks.

The cuvée brings together rhum agricole matured for three to five years in French and American oak. The individual components of this blend mature in Neisson's small ageing cellars in Le Carbet. After cask maturation, the rum is slowly reduced to 45%, with mixing and aeration during the process. Wood, vanilla, honey and dried fruit shape its aromatic profile; on the palate, exotic fruit combines with smoothly integrated tannins. Spicy accents complement its full-bodied character.

Distillery/Bottler:

Neisson's origins lie at Domaine Thieubert in Le Carbet: Adrien Neisson purchased land there in 1931 and planted sugar cane; in 1932, the distillery he had built with his brother Jean was founded. Since 1995, Claudine Neisson Vernant and her son Grégory Vernant have continued to run the family business.

The distillery uses pure sugar cane juice to make its rhum agricole. Neisson ferments the juice with its own yeasts over 72 to 120 hours. Distillation takes place in an all-copper Savalle column, which Jean Neisson continued to refine through modifications to its plates and settings after its installation in 1952. Neisson blends its cuvées and bottles its entire production on site. The Ateliers Tatanka create the artwork for the hand-painted bottles.
