This rum represents the Nicaraguan style in the Classic Range by Berry Bros. & Rudd. The range explores different rum traditions through bottlings from Barbados, Jamaica, Guatemala and Nicaragua. For the Nicaraguan release, the choice fell on a Spanish-tradition molasses rum, both distilled and matured in its country of origin. Nicaragua's cooler climate compared with other parts of the Caribbean allows the rum to mature slowly.

Its fruity sweetness combines with coffee and delicate woody spice. Tropical fruit and hazelnuts join these flavours on the palate. Berry Bros. & Rudd bottles the rum at 40.5% alcohol in bottles containing 0.7 litres.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, sweet, ripe fruit aromas meet coffee, delicate woody spice and cinnamon.
• Palate: The rum has a dense texture on the palate. Tropical fruit and hazelnuts complement the fruity sweetness and the notes of coffee and woody spice.
• Finish: The long finish reveals a gentle caramel note and fades lightly.

Founded in 1698, Berry Bros. & Rudd is a family-owned London wine and spirits merchant. The company has traded in selected drinks for more than three centuries and maintains long-standing relationships with producers. Its spirits team tastes and selects bottlings from different regions of origin.

As an independent bottler, Berry Bros. & Rudd makes regional stylistic differences accessible through its Classic Range. After exploring Scotland's whisky regions, the company extended this concept to different rum origins; the rum range was introduced in 2019.
