Special Features:

Peated barley malt complements wheat and rye in NORK Derbe. Working with Feinbrennerei Sasse, NORK developed a Doppelkorn whose character reaches well beyond neutral grain notes. It is distilled in small stills. Fruity and earthy impressions meet peat smoke and freshly baked bread, giving it an aromatic affinity with unmatured whisky.

This clear spirit has an alcohol content of 39% and comes in a bottle containing 0.5 litres. Try it neat at room temperature. For a long drink, combine it with lemon and tonic; it also brings its smoky grain character to a sour.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, lime and freshly cut grass sit alongside spicy grain notes. Smoke appears as a subtle nuance.
• Palate: On the palate, juicy berries combine with full-bodied wheat and rye notes. Distinctive peat smoke accompanies the contrast between light fruitiness and earthy impressions.
• Finish: Dry grain notes and smoke linger on the persistent finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

NORK was founded by siblings Ann-Katrin and Johann Dallmeyer. After two years of development, they launched their first Korn in October 2016. A large proportion of the first 300 bottles had already been sold through a crowdfunding campaign. During its first years of production, the project was based at Hanschen Harm in Scheessel, where the Korn was produced, bottled and labelled. As a designer, Ann-Katrin also shapes the brand’s visual identity through cleanly designed labels and wooden closures.

NORK has worked with Feinbrennerei Sasse since mid-2019. Its different stills opened up new possibilities for developing Derbe as the brand’s second Doppelkorn. Based in Münsterland, the distillery traces its history back to 1707.
