For this liqueur, NORK combines cold-brew coffee with genuine sweet-root liquorice and Korn. Coffee leads the flavour, while the liquorice remains more restrained. The liquorice comes from liquorice root, not ammonium chloride. This miniature contains 0.05 litres at 20% alcohol.

The fairly traded speciality coffee comes from Hamburg's Waterkant Rösterei. For the liqueur, it is cold-extracted for up to 18 hours. Waterkant works towards water-neutral coffee, including through well-building projects in Uganda. Alongside the bold coffee, there is a little cocoa, while liquorice root contributes a gentle sweetness. The liqueur contains caffeine and is made without artificial additives.

Shake the bottle before pouring. Enjoy the liqueur neat, over ice or as a cocktail ingredient.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Espresso leads the nose.
• Palate: A bold espresso flavour dominates the palate.
• Finish: A liquorice note emerges on the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

NORK was founded by siblings Ann-Katrin and Johann Dallmeyer. After two years of development, they launched their first Korn in October 2016; a crowdfunding campaign had already secured buyers for a large proportion of the first 300 bottles. Their aim was to re-establish Korn as a spirit to be enjoyed in its own right. Their first limited-edition liqueurs followed in 2018.

Production began in Scheessel, between Bremen and Hamburg, where Hanschen Harm supported the young company. Since mid-2019, NORK has worked with Feinkornbrennerei Sasse on its Korn products. For its liqueurs, the brand favours unusual ingredient combinations and avoids artificial flavourings and flavour enhancers. As a rule, it limits added sugar to the minimum required for liqueur.
