Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 57.1% | Chill filtration: No | Colouring: No
Special Features:
As the third edition in the joint High Proof series from North Star Spirits and Sansibar Whisky, this bottling combines eleven-year-old Tamdhu with the distinctive influence of a sherry hogshead. The Speyside single malt was distilled in 2014 and bottled in 2026 at 57.1%. It is bottled at natural colour and without chill filtration; its cask, vintage and high bottling strength are therefore the whisky’s defining features.
Rich fruit and sweet sherry warmth shape the profile from the outset. This core remains clearly defined on the palate; the high strength lends it power and structure, accompanied by noticeable depth. The long, intense finish carries the fruity warmth forward with a powerful expression. Overall, the influence of the hogshead is clear.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: The nose combines a rich fruit profile with the warm sweetness of the sherry cask.
- Palate: Fruit takes centre stage on the palate, with power, warm sweetness and pronounced depth giving it definition.
- Finish: Fruit and sherry warmth linger with powerful expression through the intense, long finish.
Distillery/Bottler:
Tamdhu Distillery in Knockando produced this Speyside single malt. The distillery, which has existed for more than 125 years, consistently focuses its own whiskies on maturation in Oloroso sherry oak. This whisky matured in a sherry hogshead.
North Star Spirits bottled the whisky as an independent bottler for the High Proof collaboration with Sansibar Whisky. Under founder Iain Croucher, North Star Spirits selects individual casks, bottles the selected whiskies at cask strength and transparently states the type of wood, alcoholic strength, and dates of distillation and bottling. In this edition, that cask-focused approach comes together with eleven-year-old Tamdhu from a sherry hogshead and the collaboration with Sansibar Whisky.
