Special Features:

This farm-grown expression in the 16 series is made entirely from Concerto barley grown in the Church Field at Octomore Farm on Islay. The resulting heavily peated malt has a phenol content of 189.5 PPM.

The five-year-old whisky was matured entirely on Islay in Bourbon, Sauternes and Pedro Ximénez casks. Its flavour profile combines pronounced smoke with sweet malt, bright fruit, and mineral and saline accents. Edition 16.3 was bottled in 2025 at 61.6%.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose brings together flowering heather and distant campfire smoke with barley sugar and freshly baked bread. Lemon peel, green apple skin and delicate blossoms add bright accents, while the peat smoke remains restrained.
• Palate: Honeyed malt, toasted grain and pronounced earthiness come together on the palate. Orchard fruits, citrus and a touch of vanilla sweetness follow; fine smoke and salt run through the malt and contrast with heather and gorse, while coconut adds an accent of its own.
• Finish: The finish lingers with malt, floral accents, beach-fire smoke, citrus and minerality.

Distillery/Bottler:

Octomore 16.3 is a distillery bottling from Bruichladdich Distillery on Islay. The Concerto barley for this edition is grown in the Church Field at Octomore Farm, and the distillery uses Islay spring water for bottling.

Octomore grew out of the distillery’s experiments with exceptionally heavily peated malt, which began in 2002. Slow distillation in the tall, narrow-necked stills based on Bruichladdich’s original 1881 design encourages a fruity and comparatively elegant style of smoke.
