Special features: The Port Charlotte Heavily Peated PAC 01 from 2011 is an 8-year-old single malt whisky produced at the Bruichladdich Distillery on the Scottish island of Islay. This whisky is part of the Cask Exploration Series and is characterized by a pronounced smoky note. It was bottled at an alcohol content of 56.1% in an attractive tube. The maturation initially took place in first-fill American whiskey barrels, followed by storage in red wine barrels from the Pauillac region.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, the whisky presents itself as fresh-fruity and simultaneously dry-smoky, accompanied by cloves, ginger, chocolate, malt, toffee, brown sugar, coconut, and vanilla.
• Palate: On the palate, sweet oak and malt unfold, followed by smoke, citrus, and dried fruits. Notes of marzipan, caramel, and chocolate combine with peat smoke and earthy tones.
• Finish: The finish is smoky-medical, with hints of coconut, floral, and maritime notes. Earthy tones and oak are also perceptible.

Distillery/Bottler: The Bruichladdich Distillery is known for its use of heavily peated barley. The Port Charlotte PAC:01 2011 comes from this distillery and highlights the characteristics of Scottish whisky. This original bottling is part of the Cask Exploration Series.
