Special Features:

This whisky from the closed Lowland distillery Port Dundas was distilled on March 20, 2003 and matured for 22 years in an American bourbon barrel. Claxton's bottled it for the Exploration Series on February 6, 2026 at 50%. The 0.7-litre bottling has its natural colour and was not chill-filtered.

Vanilla, caramel and cream candy shape the creamy, sweet character, complemented by a fruity accent of ripe stone fruit. Black pepper and gentle oak provide spicy and woody counterpoints.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, sweet vanilla and caramel combine with cream toffee, baked apple, orange peel and delicate oak.
• Palate: The whisky is creamy and sweet on the palate, with vanilla and caramel accompanied by dried fruit, citrus notes and a pinch of black pepper.
• Finish: The finish is long, combining gentle oak and caramel with creamy sweetness and sweet cereal notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Port Dundas began operating beside the Forth & Clyde Canal in Glasgow in 1811. The distillery was already using Coffey stills in the 19th century. Its convenient transport links helped it grow for a time into Scotland's largest distillery. In 2010, Diageo decided to transfer grain production to Cameronbridge; production at Port Dundas ended in 2011 and the site was demolished.

Claxton's is an independent bottler specialising in single-cask whiskies. At Dalswinton Bond, the company manages its own cask work and bottles its whiskies at natural colour and without chill filtration when the influence of the cask and the character of the spirit are in balance.
