Hand-picked red grapes from the Douro Valley form the basis of this ruby-red Port wine. The Ruby style emphasises the grapes’ original fruit character. Porto Cruz Ruby combines this fruit-forward profile with floral notes and pronounced red berry aromas.

Port wine owes its sweetness to the addition of grape brandy, which stops fermentation and leaves some of the grapes’ natural sugar in the wine. Porto Cruz Ruby has an alcohol content of 19% and comes in a 0.75-litre bottle.

As an aperitif, it can be enjoyed at room temperature or chilled over ice. With food, it pairs well with cheese and chocolate desserts. For a simple long drink, combine it with tonic water and a slice of orange.

Distillery/Bottler:

Porto Cruz traces its roots back to 1887. The house combines winegrowing in the Douro Valley with maturation in the Gran Cruz cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia. Harvesting, pressing, maceration and fermentation are followed by fortification with grape brandy. Different vessels and maturation methods are then used according to the intended style of Port. The range includes fruit-forward Ruby Ports, Tawny Ports and longer-aged vintage bottlings.
