Special Features:

The flavour of fully ripe apricots is central to Prinz Hausschnaps Marille. The apricot distillate rests in stoneware vessels for two to three years before being brought to drinking strength with spring water. The fruit combines gentle sweetness with tart accents. This miniature contains 0.02 litres of the Austrian speciality at 34% alcohol.

For the Hausschnaps, incoming apricots are first assessed for appearance, aroma and flavour. Prinz then removes the stems and stones and processes the fruit into mash. Fermentation is followed by a gentle fine-distillation process intended to preserve the delicate fruit aromas. A serving temperature of 15 to 18 °C is recommended, for example in a stemmed schnapps glass or a small shot glass.

Distillery/Bottler:

Fein-Brennerei Prinz is a family business in Hörbranz, in Vorarlberg’s Leiblachtal valley between Lake Constance and the Alps. Its distilling tradition dates back to 1886. The company behind the distillery is Thomas Prinz GmbH.

Prinz has worked with fruit growers for decades, timing the harvest according to the ripeness of the fruit. As not all fruit ripens at the same time, harvesting can extend over several weeks. Clean, fully ripe raw materials, gentle distillation and a subsequent resting period for the distillates shape the production of its fruity 34% specialities.
