Special Features:

New American oak shapes this single-cask release from the Letter of Marque range. The molasses rum matured for two years and eight months in cask P699. La Maison du Whisky selected it as a European exclusive; the release comprised 222 bottles, each containing 0.7 litres at 55.8% alcohol.

Privateer uses neither chill filtration nor colouring for this rum. Fruity and sweet impressions sit alongside spices and restrained oak notes, while roasted nuts provide a distinctive accent on the palate.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals tropical fruit with gentle caramel and vanilla notes. Dried apricots, toffee and nutmeg add further detail.
• Palate: Sweet impressions combine with spices and a light oak note on the palate. Hazelnuts and roasted almonds stand out, while fruit and spice remain present.
• Finish: The finish is long and warm. Tropical fruit freshness and subtle oak notes linger.

Distillery/Bottler:

Privateer produces its rum in Ipswich, Massachusetts. The distillery uses long, cool fermentation and matures its rums in New England's maritime climate. The changing seasons are therefore as much a part of its approach as yeast selection. No sugar is added after distillation.

Letter of Marque is Privateer's range of selected single casks and small batches. Trade partners work with the distillery team to choose distinctive spirits from the warehouse. The name recalls the historical letters of marque that authorised merchant ships to operate as privateers during the American Revolution.
