Providence 2021 Haitian Pure Single Rum (Velier)
Special Features: This Pure Single Rum from Providence was created in Haiti in collaboration between Velier, La Maison du Whisky, and the Barbancourt-Linge family. Made from the aromatic sugarcane variety Cristalline and traditional dunder liquid, the rum ages for three years in a combination of former Providence, Caroni, and Bourbon casks. The distillation is done twice in a copper Müller pot still according to Haitian tradition.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Ethereal and subtle with a sweet note of lightly roasted cane sugar, followed by vanilla, candied mandarin, and roasted walnuts that convey a lot of energy.
Palate: Pure and vibrant, characterized by candied lemon, fibrous sugarcane aromas, and grated ginger. Additionally, milky and fruity accents develop, such as pudding and roasted banana.
Finish: Long and smooth, with a delicate mouthfeel. Notes of raspberry, honey, and ginger give the complex aftertaste momentum.
Distillery/Bottler: Velier, led by rum expert Luca Gargano, realized the dream of its own Haitian distillery in 2018 together with La Maison du Whisky and the Barbancourt-Linge family. Providence stands for respectful processing of local sugarcane, sustainable agriculture, and traditional manufacturing methods. The Distillery de Port-au-Prince combines historical knowledge with modern expertise and delivers multifaceted rums with high authenticity.
