Special Features:

Pyrat XO Reserve brings together aged Caribbean rums in a blend with a distinctive orange character. Maturation takes place in French Limousin oak and American oak casks. The blend includes rums aged for up to 16 years; this upper limit is not an age statement for the entire contents.

Orange peel, caramel, honey and molasses shape the aroma. On the palate, oak and vanilla complement the citrus notes, while spices provide a counterpoint in the finish. This amber-coloured blend is suitable both for drinking neat and for cocktails. It is offered at 40% alcohol in a bottle containing 0.7 litres.

The squat bottle bears an orange ribbon and a medallion depicting Hoti. Within the brand's imagery, this figure represents happiness and prosperity and is regarded as the patron saint of bartenders.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Orange peel, caramel, honey and molasses come together on the nose.
• Palate: The blend is soft and delicate on the palate, with light sweetness and subtle spice notes. Oak, vanilla, orange and a note of cane sugar complete the flavour profile.
• Finish: Orange and a light spiciness linger in the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Pyrat's history is linked to Anguilla, where Martin Crowley established the operation for blending and bottling the rums. In 2010, these activities moved to Demerara Distillers in Guyana. Pyrat has been part of Bacardi's brand portfolio since Bacardi's full acquisition of Patrón Spirits International in 2018.

The blend is based on collaboration with various Caribbean rum producers. In 2013, Pyrat used molasses-based rums that had undergone at least two distillation runs in different types of still, including pot and column stills. Different rum styles and ages were selected to maintain the house style over the years. After cask maturation, purified water was used to bring the rum to bottling strength.
