Special Features:

Ten years of tropical cask maturation shape this rhum agricole from Marie-Galante. Bielle distilled it in 2011 from fresh sugarcane juice; maturation took place in fine-grained oak casks and former bourbon casks. In 2021, the rum was reduced to bottling strength and bottled at 45% alcohol.

Its character combines dried and candied fruit with honey, spices and mature wood notes. The 0.7-litre bottle comes in a blue metal tube with gold-coloured accents and a sailing ship motif.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, dried mango and cranberries meet dark wood notes. Star anise and cinnamon complement the fruity, spicy aromas.
• Palate: The rum opens powerfully on the palate before unfolding into spices and honey. Dates, sultanas and toasted almonds mingle with liquorice, cardamom and creamy honey notes.
• Finish: Candied pineapple lingers through the long, complex finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Distillerie Bielle is located on Marie-Galante in the Guadeloupe archipelago. The estate's history goes back to Jean-Pierre Bielle, who grew coffee there in 1769. His sons established a sugar factory in 1826; rum production only began in the early 20th century. Following its purchase by Paul Rameaux in 1955, the Société d’Exploitation de la Distillerie Bielle took over operations in 1975.

Bielle processes sugarcane from small local growers. Two mills extract the juice, which ferments for 48 hours before being distilled in three stainless-steel Savalle columns. This use of sugarcane juice forms the basis of the distillery's rhum agricole tradition. The 2011 vintage was bottled at the distillery.
