Rhum Vieux Communal
Special features: The Rhum Vieux Communal is a traditional rum from Haiti that combines a careful blend of four aged Clairins. These come from different communities in the country and mature in a combination of American barrels, including those with a bourbon history and former rum barrels. This limited edition is bottled without additional color and flavor additives and has an alcohol content of 48%. It reflects the diversity and craftsmanship that goes into Haitian rum production.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: The nose reveals fruity, floral, and spicy notes, complemented by medicinal tones and hints of herbal tea. Ripe bananas and dried apricots, as well as floral nuances, are also distinctly perceptible.
- Palate: On the palate, notes of oil and roots add to the overall picture. Along the oily texture, there are also rooty accents of licorice and sweet wood.
- Finish: The texture is delicate, and the natural purity brings balance and coherence to this rum.
Distillery/Bottler: Vieux Communal is a brand known for its traditional Haitian rum. The bottling of this limited edition is done as an original bottling, with Clairin serving as a significant element in Haiti's rum culture. The involved distilleries Sajous, Le Rocher, and Vaval are located in various communities in Haiti and contribute to regional diversity. This bottling is an example of authentic Haitian distillation art.
