Special Features:

This Rosebank comes from the old distillery's final years of production and preserves its character through 31 years of maturation. The triple-distilled single malt from 1991 was bottled in 2022 as the second release in the global Legacy series. Its casks formed part of the stocks retained after the distillery closed in 1993. Maturation took place in refill casks, meaning casks previously used to mature whisky.

Despite its age, the whisky remains light and lively. Citrus freshness and gentle sweetness meet herbs, leather and baked-goods notes; the sweetness increases on the finish. It was bottled at 48.1%, without chill filtration or added colouring. The 0.7-litre bottle comes in a grey cylindrical gift tube decorated with a rose motif and copper-coloured accents.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Lively citrus notes, including lime and lemongrass, lead on the nose. Coriander seeds and cloves complement the aromas, while gentle vanilla and sugared almonds add sweet accents.
• Palate: On the palate, the whisky shows maturity while remaining light and lively. Mint and chamomile combine with leather, berries and banana bread.
• Finish: The whisky becomes sweeter on the finish. Hints of peach and oak accompany the lingering herbal notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Rosebank is closely linked to Falkirk and its canal history. In 1840, James Rankine established a distillery on the site of the Camelon maltings, reviving the Rosebank name. Its light, distinctive malt was also long valued for making blended whiskies. Triple distillation shaped Rosebank's style and remained an important feature of the distillery until its closure in 1993.

Ian Macleod Distillers acquired Rosebank in 2017 and began its reconstruction, which was completed in 2023. Three stills were built for the renewed distillery using the plans of the former equipment. Douglas fir washbacks and traditional worm-tub condensers were also installed. The latter contain handcrafted copper coils up to 70 metres long, in which the alcohol vapour cools. These choices were intended to continue production in the historical Rosebank style. Release 2, by contrast, consists exclusively of long-matured whisky from before the closure.
