Origami Kite II is Roseisle’s second public single malt release and forms part of the Diageo Special Releases 2024. The whisky matured for twelve years in first-fill ex-bourbon and refill casks. This distillery bottling contains 0.2 litres at 55.6% ABV and comes in a tube. It is not smoky, is not chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

The 2023 debut was also matured in first-fill bourbon and refill casks, but was bottled at 56.5% ABV; Origami Kite II followed in 2024 at 55.6%. Creamy vanilla and spice accompany ripe banana, yellow peach, pineapple and nectarine. Honey and white chocolate complement the fruit, alongside a slightly tart, gently vinous redcurrant note, ginger and mint.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose opens gently with a slightly vinous, tart note reminiscent of unripe redcurrants. It then becomes sweeter and creamier, with vanilla fudge; a little water briefly brings out a dusty note.
• Palate: On the palate, the whisky is soft and distinctly creamy. Vanilla icing and ripe fruit accompany a lingering sweetness, balanced by spice. Honey, banana and white chocolate add to the flavours. A few drops of water bring the fruit and sweetness forward without displacing the spice.
• Finish: The finish is long and sweet, with light spice and restrained peppery warmth. Fruit and a little fresh oak linger; with water, the final impression becomes slightly sweeter.

Distillery/Bottler:

Roseisle Distillery began operating in Speyside in 2009. It was the first large new Scottish malt whisky distillery to open in around three decades. Designed to use resources efficiently, the distillery can produce different spirit styles by adjusting processes including condensation and distillation. Roseisle belongs to Diageo, which released the whisky made there for Origami Kite II as a distillery bottling. Following the 2023 debut, this was only the second Roseisle single malt offered to the public.
