Special Features:

The Origami Kite marked the first public release of a Roseisle single malt in 2023. This twelve-year-old Speyside whisky matured in first-fill ex-bourbon and refill casks. It was bottled at its natural cask strength of 56.5%, without chill filtration or added colour. This distillery bottling is part of the Diageo Special Releases 2023 and comes in a 0.2-litre bottle with a tube. A separate edition, Origami Kite II, followed in 2024.

Vanilla and sponge cake sit alongside ripe pale fruit and nutty notes. Hazelnut, white chocolate, peach, pineapple and apricot are joined by toffee and caramel. Molasses and warm spice also contribute to this release’s character.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals gentle vanilla, a hint of molasses and cereal. Nutty and fruity notes join vanilla sponge cake with buttercream, while ripe peach and white chocolate remain subtle in the background.
• Palate: The whisky feels soft and creamy on the palate. Sweet vanilla icing is followed by further vanilla notes and deep fruitiness before warm spice emerges; the sweetness remains throughout.
• Finish: The long finish stays richly sweet and fades with gentle spice and a hint of white pepper. A few drops of water heighten the sweetness.

Distillery/Bottler:

Roseisle opened in Speyside in 2009. Built as part of a Diageo project, it was Scotland’s first newly opened large-scale malt distillery in around 30 years. Innovative technology helps the distillery reduce the carbon footprint of its production. Roseisle makes the single malt, which became publicly available for the first time in 2023 under the edition name The Origami Kite. The spirit undergoes 2 distillations.
