Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 49.8% | Chill filtration: No | Colouring: No
Special Features:
A finish in a first-fill Pinot Blanc barrique sets this Royal Brackla apart within the Cask Masters single-cask series. Distilled on 2 July 2012, the whisky was bottled from cask #494/2012 on 13 March 2025 after twelve years. The cask yielded 340 bottles at 49.8% ABV.
The Pinot Blanc finish brings a bright, wine-fresh accent in contrast to the sherry-cask finishes of Royal Brackla’s own bottlings. Floral notes, a creamy texture and lively fruit acidity balance the pear and grape flavours. Within Cask Masters, Golden Proof denotes balanced single-cask bottlings at around 50% ABV. The whisky is not chill-filtered and contains no added colouring. Its label draws on the Japanese paper-cutting art of kirigami and states the age, cask type and bottling details.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Pear compote and jasmine meet lemon cream on the nose. White grapes and a hint of vanilla cream complete the aroma.
Palate: On the palate, the whisky feels fresh and creamy. Ripe pear, bright fruit acidity and citrus freshness are balanced by delicate sweetness.
Finish: The medium-length finish leaves grape flavours, gentle vanilla custard and a delicate floral note.
Distillery/Bottler:
Royal Brackla stands near Nairn on the Cawdor Estate in the Highlands. Captain William Fraser founded the distillery in 1812. In 1833, it became the first Scotch whisky distillery to receive a Royal Warrant from King William IV.
Founded in 2020, Brave New Spirits is based in Glasgow. The independent bottler selects individual casks with distinctive character for Cask Masters. For this release, it chose the Pinot Blanc barrique and bottled the whisky from it.
