Special Features:

This single-cask bottling combines Royal Brackla Highland single malt with a finish in a Pedro Ximénez octave cask. Such a small cask has a larger internal wood surface area relative to the volume of liquid than a larger cask. Duncan Taylor’s The Octave concept uses small casks to intensify flavour, character and complexity.

The whisky was distilled on 2 October 2017 and bottled on 21 July 2026 at eight years of age. Cask #9351405 yielded just 90 bottles. It was bottled at a cask strength of 53.7%, without chill filtration or added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines dark raisins and ripe plums with the creamy sweetness of toffee, caramel and vanilla, while baking spices and a subtle malty note add further depth.
• Palate: On the palate, ripe figs meet rich mocha, dark chocolate and prominent oak spice, while the intense aromatic profile remains balanced.
• Finish: The finish is long and shaped by distinctive oak, rounded off by a delicate hint of vanilla.

Distillery/Bottler:

Royal Brackla was founded in 1812 on the Cawdor Estate in the Scottish Highlands. In 1833, Brackla became the first Scotch whisky distillery to receive a Royal Warrant from King William IV, giving rise to the epithet “The King’s Own Whisky”.

Independent bottler Duncan Taylor began as a cask broker in Glasgow in 1938 and now bottles its whiskies at its headquarters in Huntly. For The Octave range, the company uses small casks whose more intensive influence is intended to accentuate the flavour, character and complexity of the selected whiskies.
