Special features: This 8-year-old single malt whisky was distilled in 2014 and initially matured in bourbon hogsheads. It then received a two-year finish in reconditioned Madeira-PX casks from Justino's, one of the oldest producers and exporters of Madeira wine. Bottled at 50% alcohol content, it is presented in a limited edition of 2,303 bottles.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Strong peat smoke with maritime hints, accompanied by sweet fruit notes from the Madeira finish.
Palate: Intense smokiness meets sweet, fruity nuances, complemented by oak and spices.
Finish: Long-lasting with a harmonious balance of smoke and sweet fruitiness.
Distillery/Bottler: The independent bottler Murray McDavid is known for selecting and bottling exceptional single malts from Scotland. In its Benchmark series, it presents limited editions that stand out due to special cask maturations and finishes. This bottling was exclusively bottled for the German market.
