Seagram's VO combines Canadian blending tradition with at least six years of maturation in oak casks. Bottled at 40%, it brings together fruity sweetness, a medium body and spicy rye notes.

The 0.7-litre bottle carries the classic cream-coloured label with its large VO lettering. The whisky is offered without gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose offers a sweet, fruity combination of dried fruit, lemon peel and orange juice. A light cereal sweetness complements the aromas.
• Palate: On the palate, the whisky is buttery and mouth-filling, with a medium body. Honey, yoghurt and espresso mingle with marmalade and strawberry jam.
• Finish: Rye spice and a light, sweetish oak note linger through the medium-length finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

The story of Seagram's VO begins at the Waterloo distillery in Ontario. The blend first appeared there in limited quantities in 1913 for the wedding of Thomas, Joseph E. Seagram's youngest son. The original meaning of the initials was never recorded in writing: within the family, VO stands for Very Own, while another interpretation is Very Old.

The label also tells a piece of Canadian history. Governor General Lord Athlone granted VO a royal warrant in 1940, after which his coat of arms appeared on the label. The design was revised after his death, and bilingual wording was introduced on Canadian labels in 1976. Today, VO belongs to Sazerac's brand portfolio.
