Special Features:

This five-year-old peated German single malt is the Singold release from Malts of Germany Batch No. 2. It was matured in Tawny Port and bourbon casks and bottled at 47%. Limited to 818 bottles, the batch is neither chill-filtered nor coloured.

Dried fruit and raisins complement cherry and dark fruit, while vanilla, chocolate, cereal notes and bread crust round out the aromatic spectrum.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is powerful and full, with ripe cherries, chocolate and vanilla accompanied by peat.
• Palate: On the palate, warm peat notes and dark fruit combine with power and balance. Towards the back of the palate, the fruit fades with subtle smokiness; the alcohol is well integrated, warming and harmonious.
• Finish: The long, dry and harmonious finish carries dark chocolate and subtle oak spice.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Singold distillery in Wehringen was founded in 2017 and is the youngest of the five distilleries behind Malts of Germany. At this two-person operation, the mash ferments for a full week. Different grains and casks made from German, French and American oak, acacia and chestnut form part of the distillery’s experimental approach.

Malts of Germany is an independent bottler specialising in whisky made in Germany. The brand grew out of a collaboration between five German distilleries whose owners are friends, and its small batches showcase different styles of German whisky production.
