Slyrs 51 / Bavarian Single Malt

Special features: The Slyrs 51 is a powerful single malt whisky from Bavaria, bottled at 51% vol. It initially matures in new barrels made of American white oak and then receives a finishing in barrels that previously contained sherry, port wine, or Sauternes. This special barrel combination gives it depth and complexity. The whisky is neither colored nor chill-filtered, preserving its natural purity.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Complex with aromas of dried fruits, honey, toasted wood, and fine wine notes.
  • Palate: Full-bodied and robust with notes of dark caramel, dried fruits, spices, vanilla, and a subtle sweetness derived from the different barrel types.
  • Finish: Long, spicy, and warm with subtle fruitiness and wood notes.

Distillery/Bottler: The Slyrs Distillery was founded in 1999 and is known for producing the first and only Upper Bavarian single malt whisky. It is located in Schliersee, Bavaria, and combines traditional craftsmanship with modern spirits culture. The name "Slyrs" is derived from the old Bavarian name for Schliersee and reflects the regional roots and artisanal production.
