Smögen 2014/2026 is a twelve-year-old Swedish single malt made from heavily peated barley. The whisky was distilled in the winter of 2014, matured in first-fill ex-bourbon and sherry casks, and bottled in March 2026 at 57.1%. It is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Pronounced peat smoke remains the defining element of this bottling. Nuts, fruit, vanilla, caramel, spices and oak add sweet and spicy accents, while dry herbs and mineral notes give the character a more austere edge towards the finish.

At 57.1%, the whisky has a powerful presence but retains clearly perceptible cask sweetness and fruitiness alongside the smoke. The combination of a smoky core and twelve years of maturation in two cask types creates a complex profile without pushing the peat into the background.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Dense peat smoke leads on the nose, accompanied by nuts, fruit, gentle vanilla sweetness and a hint of oak.
• Palate: On the palate, powerful smoke and spices meet sweet nuttiness and mild caramel; the impression is full-bodied and balanced.
• Finish: The finish is long, smoky and dry, while bitter herbs and a mineral note emerge.

Distillery/Bottler:

Smögen Whisky AB produces and bottles this single malt itself. Founded in 2009, the company carries out both production and all cask maturation at the Ståleröd farm, southwest of Hunnebostrand on Sweden’s west coast. Its whiskies are made there in small batches, largely by hand and under direct supervision, keeping production and maturation together in one location.
