Smokey Joe is an Islay blended malt for which Angus Dundee blends malt whiskies from several distilleries on the island. The barley used is dried with local peat, which shapes the smoky character of the Islay malts. This bottling combines bold smoke with maritime and savoury notes. It has an alcohol content of 46% and is bottled without chill filtration.

Alongside smoke and coastal notes, unusually savoury accents define its character: barbecued ribs, black olive tapenade and anchovy contrast with the sweetness of maple syrup. Spicy cedar, coffee and cocoa notes round out this interplay.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, pronounced notes of fireplace soot and coastal smokehouses mingle with grilled fennel, bell pepper and citrus oil.
• Palate: The palate opens with oily peat smoke and barbecued ribs. These are followed by black olive tapenade, anchovy, maple syrup and spicy cedar notes.
• Finish: In the finish, salty liquorice, espresso and soy sauce gradually give way to lingering notes of cocoa, burnt toast and icing sugar.

Angus Dundee Distillers plc is the company behind Smokey Joe. Its malt components come from several Islay distilleries. Founded in 1950, Angus Dundee has more than seventy years of experience in distilling, blending, maturation and bottling. The company holds a range of whisky stocks in its maturation warehouses and develops both its own brands and blends for other suppliers.

The company's Scottish distilleries include Tomintoul in the Cairngorms National Park and Glencadam in Brechin in the eastern Highlands. Both have blending facilities. Angus Dundee also operates a bottling plant in Coatbridge near Glasgow.
