Special Features:

Bourbon and sherry casks shape the mild, fruit-led style of St. Kilian CLASSIC. This permanent Core Range bottling brings together whiskies matured in former bourbon casks, accounting for 70% of the blend, and Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks, accounting for the remaining 30%. Together, these cask influences create a non-smoky single malt with stone fruit, creamy sweetness and spicy oak.

The Core Range was introduced at the end of 2022 as a permanently available collection. All its whisky comes from St. Kilian's own distillery. The three-year-old CLASSIC is bottled at 46% in a 0.7-litre bottle shaped to resemble a copper pot still. It is neither chill-filtered nor coloured with added colouring, and has a pale gold hue.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Ripe apricots and peaches mingle with yellow plums and plantains on the nose. Creamy vanilla adds sweetness to the aroma. Gently spicy oak and delicate notes of fresh mint and a little sage complement the fruit.
• Palate: The whisky is sweet and warming on the palate, with a balanced feel. Apricots and peaches combine with creamy toffee and spicy oak. A pinch of white pepper and a hint of fresh mint add subtle accents.
• Finish: Creamy caramel and delicate brittle remain in the long finish. Subtle, dry oak spice and a hint of herbs accompany the lingering flavours.

Distillery/Bottler:

St. Kilian Distillers is based in Rüdenau near Miltenberg am Main, in the Lower Franconian part of the Odenwald. Andreas Thümmler developed the plan for the distillery in 2012 together with Irish whisky expert David F. Hynes. Production began in 2016 after four years of development. In May 2019, First Kilian followed as the distillery's first three-year-old single malt.

The distillery's equipment includes wooden fermentation vessels and two copper stills made by Forsyth, each with a capacity of 6000 litres. The whisky is distilled twice in Scottish copper pot stills. This brings a production approach inspired by Scottish and Irish single malt traditions to the German distillery.
