Special Features:

This liqueur brings the Whiskey Sour to the bottle already mixed. Its recipe combines rye whiskey, lemon juice and sugar. The citrus adds acidity to the spicy whiskey base, while sweetness brings the two together. The result is refreshing and tart without obscuring the whiskey’s character.

The whiskey used matures in first-fill casks made from American oak and German Napoleon oak. The finished liqueur contains 20% alcohol and comes in a 0.7-litre bottle. To serve, simply pour it over ice and stir until chilled. For a New York Sour, add a float of dry red wine.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Fresh citrus notes meet the spice of rye whiskey on the nose.
• Palate: Lively lemon notes combine with sweetness and acidity on the palate. The characteristic rye spice remains clearly discernible.
• Finish: The finish is light and refreshing, with lingering fruitiness.

Distillery/Bottler:

STORK CLUB is run by Spreewood Distillers GmbH in Schlepzig, Brandenburg, around 60 kilometres south of Berlin. The distillery was founded in 2004. At the end of 2016, Steffen Lohr, Sebastian Brack and Bastian Heuser took over the business and focused it on rye whiskey. Lohr and Heuser bring experience as bartenders; Heuser is also a co-founder of Bar Convent Berlin.

For its whiskeys, the distillery uses rye from surrounding fields, grinding it in its own hammer mill. The mash ferments with selected yeast strains for around five days. It is then distilled in copper hybrid stills; an Aromator with five copper bubble-cap plates is used during the second distillation. For maturation, STORK CLUB uses custom-made oak casks with different toast levels, among other casks.
