With Year of the Fire Goat, Gordon & MacPhail links a 1967 Strathisla to Chinese New Year 2027: for the first time since the year of distillation, it once again falls under the sign of the Fire Goat. The single malt matured for 58 years in oak casks. Distilled on 23 November 1967, the whisky was bottled from cask 6116 on 17 July 2026, yielding a total of 50 bottles.

The mahogany-coloured whisky is bottled at 55% alcohol without chill filtration or added colouring. It comes in a red premium box decorated with a black goat motif.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Dates and figs lead the nose. Honey, dark chocolate and cinnamon accompany the dried fruit, with leather, tobacco and a delicate resin note in the background.
• Palate: The whisky is full-bodied on the palate, combining sweet chocolate with creamy toffee and roasted nuts. Spicy oak, a hint of pepper and tobacco round out the flavours.
• Finish: Oak, tobacco and leather shape the long, dry finish. A delicate resin note and restrained spicy sweetness accompany the closing flavours.

Distillery/Bottler:

Founded in 1786, Strathisla is located in Speyside. The distillery belongs to Pernod Ricard and supplies an important malt component for Chivas Regal and Royal Salute. Its distillation equipment comprises two wash stills and two spirit stills. Alongside the official releases, Gordon & MacPhail has released numerous individual Strathisla vintages.

Gordon & MacPhail has been based in Elgin since 1895. The independent bottler also undertakes the maturation of new-make spirits and has worked with more than 100 Scottish distilleries in this capacity. Its casks are made to its own specifications and matched to each distillery's character. Across four generations, knowledge has been passed down about which combination of spirit, cask and maturation time is suited to a particular release.
