Straw Boys Irish Poitín , Poitin, 45% Vol.,
The name "Straw Boys" celebrates an old tradition in Irish history. A tradition that has to do with Ireland's love of partying, love of a good drink and love of friends and family.
This tradition became a must, especially when there was a wedding in the family, circle of friends or the neighbourhood. “Straw Boys”, who covered their faces with a large, pointed hat made of straw, came by “uninvited” and crashed the wedding, danced with the bride and groom, had a quick drink with the couple and then disappeared as quickly as they had come. The appearance of a "straw boy" at a wedding was supposed to bring the bride and groom luck.
And this is what Straw Boys Poitin is supposed to convey when enjoyed: happiness and joy. Poitin is unaged whiskey that was distilled illegally in rural areas of Ireland for a very long time. Straw Boys Poitin is distilled in the Connacht Distillery on copper pot stills. A A traditional recipe with malted barley is used for the mash. After the distillation process, the Poitin is brought to 45% drinking strength.
