Special Features:

Takamaka Rum Blanc brings together two distillation methods to create a light, smooth rum. Its base is a molasses rum distilled in a column still to a strength of up to 94%, then reduced to bottling strength with pure island spring water. A small proportion of ester-rich pot-still rum adds aromatic nuances and gives it a creamy character. This bottling belongs to the Seychelles Series and has an alcohol content of 40.2%.

Its light body and creamy smoothness make it a versatile cocktail ingredient. Alongside Daiquiris and Mojitos, this white rum also works well in a Cuba Libre or Piña Colada.

Distillery/Bottler:

Behind Takamaka is the Trois Frères Distillery, located on the La Plaine St Andre estate on Mahé’s east coast. The distillery’s beginnings lie in experiments carried out by Bernard d’Offay and his father Robert in 2000. Bernard’s brother Richard later joined them, and the family opened the distillery in February 2002. Another source of inspiration was their grandfather René Michel d’Offay, who made Rum Arrangé: a Creole speciality in which fruits, spices and other botanical ingredients are steeped in alcohol.

As the Seychelles has no local sugar industry, the distillery sources its molasses from the Indian Ocean region. To make its molasses rum, it dilutes the molasses with its own spring water and ferments the mixture for three and a half days before distilling it in a multi-column still. The distillery also processes locally grown sugar cane into a separate range of sugar-cane-juice rums.
