Special Features:

Talisker Skye is matured in a combination of refill casks and toasted American oak casks, with the toasted casks making up a slightly larger proportion. A small proportion of bourbon casks is also used. This cask selection emphasises the malt’s softer, sweeter side without obscuring its smoky, spicy and maritime Talisker character.

The expression was conceived as a tribute to the contrasting landscape of the Isle of Skye, from tranquil shores to the rugged peaks of the Cuillin Mountains. Accordingly, its profile combines approachable fruit and sweetness with Talisker’s characteristic coastal notes.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose opens with fresh orange, which develops into soft mango notes. Beneath them are maritime impressions of seaweed, dry driftwood and salt.
• Palate: On the palate, the whisky begins soft and sweet, with a lightly tingling texture and restrained smoke. It then becomes more savoury and robust, with pronounced warming spice.
• Finish: The finish is dry and medium in length. A smooth aftertaste with light notes of peaty embers lingers.

Distillery/Bottler:

Talisker was founded in 1830 by Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill and is the oldest distillery on the Isle of Skye. It is located in Carbost on the shore of Loch Harport, and its coastal setting continues to shape the identity of its single malts.

The distillery’s water comes from 21 underground springs on Hawk Hill. After fermentation, the spirit is distilled twice in copper stills. Horseshoe-shaped connections on the stills return some of the vapour for redistillation before the spirit reaches the condensers located outside the building.
