Special Features:

For Batch 007, Tamdhu selected only casks that had previously held Oloroso sherry; a high proportion were first-fill casks. The whisky spent its entire maturation in these casks. They gave it its natural copper colour and shaped its fruity, spicy character.

The seventh release in the Batch Strength series was bottled at cask strength at 57.5%. It is neither chill-filtered nor coloured. The bottle contains 0.7 litres and comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: A light aroma of vanilla sponge cake comes first, followed by spicy cinnamon and toasted praline.
• Palate: The whisky is dense and full-bodied on the palate. Raspberries and sweet meringue pastries come to the fore. With a little water, caramelised apricots, oak spice and fresh lemon emerge.
• Finish: The long finish begins with warm oak spice; baked figs, pronounced sherry notes and freshly peeled clementine then linger.

Distillery/Bottler:

Tamdhu Distillery was founded in 1897 beside the River Spey; its first casks were delivered in 1898. The distillery is now owned by Ian Macleod Distillers.

Tamdhu uses Oloroso sherry casks made from European and American oak. The casks are prepared in Jerez for their subsequent use in maturing whisky in Speyside.
