This tasting and gift set offers a direct comparison of three sherry-influenced Speyside single malts. It contains 0.05 litres each of Tamdhu 12 Year Old at 43%, Tamdhu 15 Year Old at 46% and Tamdhu 18 Year Old at 46.8%. These three official bottlings come together in gift packaging, with a tasting notes card included.

All three whiskies mature entirely in Oloroso sherry casks made from American and European oak. They differ not only in maturation time, but also in the balance of cask influences: American oak has a stronger influence on the 12-year-old, the 15-year-old combines both oak types, and European oak predominates in the 18-year-old. This allows Tamdhu's house style to be explored side by side across different ages and cask selections.

The range extends from cinnamon pastries, raisins and silky fruit notes in the 12-year-old, through apricot and creamy almond in the 15-year-old, to cherry, milk chocolate and nutty sherry in the 18-year-old. All three retain their natural cask-derived colour and are non-chill filtered.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The 12-year-old Tamdhu combines cinnamon rolls and sweet icing with citrus, oak and raisins. A delicate mint note adds a cool accent. The 15-year-old Tamdhu offers aromas of apple pie, spiced raisins and orange peel. Pineapple and fennel round out the nose. On the nose of the 18-year-old Tamdhu, dry, nutty sherry and cherry meet milk chocolate and rum-soaked raisins. Citrus notes, baked oats and plum complete the aromas.
• Palate: The 12-year-old Tamdhu feels silky on the palate. Banana, fresh berries and berry jam combine with malt biscuits and a deep sherry-oak influence. Juicy apricot and lively raspberry take centre stage in the 15-year-old Tamdhu. Lemon tart and creamy almond complement the pronounced fruit notes. The 18-year-old Tamdhu is mouth-filling and rich in sherry. Vanilla and brown sugar combine with red apple and dried fruit.
• Finish: The 12-year-old Tamdhu has a long, balanced finish. Ground spices, dried fruit and Scottish sugar confectionery shape the lingering flavours, which also recall toffee. The 15-year-old Tamdhu has a long finish. Warming malt biscuits, sweet Cream Sherry and vanilla linger. The 18-year-old Tamdhu has a long, warming finish. Dried apricot, dates and stewed apple are accompanied by gentle spices.

Distillery/Bottler:

Tamdhu Distillery produces these three single malts in Scotland's Speyside region, near the River Spey. The distillery was founded in 1897, and its founders were already sourcing sherry casks from Spain in 1898. Since its acquisition by the independent family-owned company Ian Macleod Distillers in 2011, single malts sold under the Tamdhu brand have matured exclusively in Oloroso sherry casks.

Cask preparation begins long before whisky maturation. Staves of American and European oak first dry for more than two years in Spain. In Jerez, they are made into casks and toasted, then seasoned with Oloroso sherry for two years. Tamdhu receives the casks intact, inspects them before filling and matures the whisky in traditional low warehouses. First-fill casks impart deeper colour and a stronger cask influence, while refill casks, already used to mature whisky, leave more room for the spirit's character.
