Whole fresh citrus fruits define Tanqueray No. Ten. Oranges, limes and grapefruits provide its aromatic heart, distilled in the 500-litre Tiny Ten copper still. This small still gives the small-batch gin its name.

Alongside the fruit, the botanicals include juniper, coriander, angelica root, liquorice and chamomile flowers. Chamomile contributes to the velvety mouthfeel and adds floral notes to the citrus character. No. Ten was introduced in 2000.

The bottle contains 0.7 litres at 47.3% alcohol and comes without gift packaging. The gin suits both a Martini and a Gin & Tonic served with a slice of pink grapefruit.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Zesty grapefruit and other citrus notes meet juniper and chamomile flowers on the nose.
• Palate: On the palate, citrus fruit, juniper and chamomile combine with coriander, angelica and liquorice. The mouthfeel is velvety.
• Finish: The finish is mild, soft and refreshing, rounded out by vanilla and floral notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Charles Tanqueray founded his distillery in London's Bloomsbury district in 1830. His work on more than 300 recipe variations led to the classic Tanqueray London Dry Gin. Today, Tanqueray is made in Scotland, with No. Ten produced at Cameronbridge distillery.

For No. Ten, the distillery combines the four traditional botanicals of juniper, coriander, angelica and liquorice with fresh fruit and chamomile. Rather than using only dried citrus peel, it distils fresh fruit with neutral grain spirit to create the citrus heart. This distillate is then distilled again with additional botanicals.
