Special Features:

A finish in a Margaux wine cask gives this Teaninich a pronounced fruit character without obscuring its fresher notes. Distilled in 2010, the Highland single malt matured for 14 years. Berry Bros. & Rudd bottled the whisky from Hogshead #721397 in 2025 for its Crafted in Cask edition. This single-cask release comprises 264 bottles at 59.2% alcohol.

On the nose, milk chocolate and almond appear first alongside restrained red fruit. On the palate, blackcurrant and plum become more apparent. A little water softens the chocolate note and brings out green apple and citrus. The whisky is not chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose opens with milk chocolate and almond alongside a subtle note of red fruit. Violet, blackcurrant and blackberry lend a darker, wine-like dimension, accented by cedarwood and soft leather.
• Palate: Blackcurrant, plum and damson plum come to the fore on the palate. Blueberry, blond tobacco, a mineral note reminiscent of graphite and noticeable tannin complement the fruit. A little water adds green apple and fresh citrus notes.
• Finish: The long, silky finish keeps the fruit in focus: tart red fruit lingers alongside black pepper and delicate spice.

Distillery/Bottler:

Founded in 1817, Teaninich Distillery is located near Alness in the northeastern Highlands. It uses a mash filter rather than a conventional mash tun, and most of its whisky goes into blends. This single-cask release instead offers Teaninich as a single malt.

Berry Bros. & Rudd is a family-owned wine and spirits merchant based on London’s St James’s Street, where it has operated since 1698. It has bottled selected casks of spirits under its own name since the early 19th century. For this Teaninich, Berry Bros. & Rudd was responsible for the independent single-cask bottling with a Margaux finish.
