Maturation in former bourbon and sherry casks shapes this Finnish single malt from Teerenpeli. It is distilled from local Finnish malted barley in traditional pot stills and matures for at least 14 years in selected casks. Apple, honey and vanilla mingle with caramelised fruit and a spiced apple pie note.

This edition is part of the releases marking the distillery’s 20th anniversary and was released in January 2023 in a limited run of 970 bottles. At the time of its release, it was the oldest single malt in Teerenpeli’s history. The whisky is offered at 54.9% alcohol in a 0.5-litre bottle with gift packaging. It is not smoky, is not chill-filtered and contains no colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, fresh apples mingle with creamy blossom honey. Delicate vanilla and oak spice complement the aroma.
• Palate: Sweetness and spice are balanced on the palate. Gentle caramelised apple notes are followed by mild pepper notes and a hint of cinnamon, alongside the flavour of spiced apple pie.
• Finish: The long finish evokes apple pie and feels gentle.

Distillery/Bottler:

Teerenpeli was founded in Lahti in 2002 by Anssi Pyysing and is family-run. The original distillery is located in the Taivaanranta restaurant in the city centre. A larger site was added beside the Teerenpeli brewery in the Lotila district in 2015; the first facility remained in operation for distillation and product development. The copper pot stills were handmade in Scotland.

The raw materials include Finnish malted barley from a local maltings and groundwater from the Salpausselkä ridge. Teerenpeli also uses former shipping containers for cask storage. Since 2015, its own wood-pellet plant has supplied the brewery and distillery with process heat; the pellets are made from residues from Finnish sawmills. These choices connect production with regional raw materials and the reuse of existing materials.
