Tomintoul Tlàth

Special features: The name "Tlàth" is pronounced "Tlah" and means "gentle" or "soft" in Gaelic. This single malt Scotch whisky from the renowned Tomintoul Distillery in the Speyside region of Scotland was introduced in 2016 and is aimed at beginners as well as lovers of mild whiskies. It is characterized by a careful selection of casks, with whiskies of different ages matured in high-quality American oak casks that were previously used for bourbon maturation.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Light and sweet with aromas of butter caramel, vanilla, and a hint of mint leaves as well as citrus peels.
  • Palate: Creamy and nutty with notes of butter cookies, baked apple, almond pastry, and a hint of cinnamon.
  • Finish: Softly spiced with layers of roasted hazelnuts, cocoa powder, and oatmeal cookies.

Distillery/Bottler: The Tomintoul Distillery, founded in 1964, is located in the heart of the Speyside region of Scotland. It is known for producing whiskies with a soft and mild character, which is also reflected in the designation "The Gentle Dram." The distillery uses the soft, pure water from the Ballantruan spring and combines traditional methods with modern techniques to produce high-quality whiskies.
