Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 56% | Chill filtration: No | Colouring: No
Special Features:
This Tormore was distilled on 24 February 1984 and matured for 36 years in Refill Bourbon Barrel 3661. Gordon & MacPhail selected the single cask for the Private Collection and bottled it on 5 October 2020 at its natural cask strength of 56%. The cask yielded 134 bottles.
The whisky is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring. Its ochre hue is visible through the clear, vertically ribbed bottle, while a black label with gold lettering and a high-quality wooden box complete the presentation.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: On the nose, delicate vanilla, ripe fruit and subtle oak notes are joined by hints of dried fruit and fresh citrus.
Palate: The whisky has an oily texture on the palate. Balanced sweetness combines with spicy accents.
Finish: The long finish brings pleasant warmth and fades with subtle oak notes.
Distillery/Bottler:
Built in 1959, Tormore Distillery is located in the Cromdale Hills of Speyside. It was designed to produce a fruity, elegant whisky that was used predominantly in blends for many decades and released only occasionally as a single malt.
Gordon & MacPhail is a family-owned spirits company based in Elgin. Since its founding in 1895, it arranged for selected casks to be filled with new make spirit at Scottish distilleries and matured the spirit either at the respective distillery or in its own bonded warehouses in Elgin; this practice at third-party distilleries ended in 2024. For this bottling, Gordon & MacPhail selected the Tormore single cask and released it as part of the Private Collection.
