Tullibardine’s site near the Ochil Hills in Perthshire has a long brewing history: as early as 1488, the future King James IV of Scotland bought beer there. In 1947, William Delme-Evans recognised the potential of the local mineral-rich spring water and converted the brewery into a whisky distillery. The Danny Burn supplies its water, while the name Tullibardine derives from a nearby medieval chapel.
After being closed from 1993 to 2003, Tullibardine resumed production and has belonged to the French family-run Terroir Distillers group since 2011. With the exception of malting, the production steps for its single malt take place on site. The distillery’s facilities include four copper pot stills, its own cooperage, maturation warehouses and a bottling plant.
