An Oloroso finish complements this Tyrconnell's long maturation in bourbon casks: after ten years in Bourbon Barrels, the whiskey spends a further six to eight months in former Oloroso sherry casks from Spain. This second maturation phase deepens its colour and adds pronounced sherry notes with hints of caramelised apple pie and custard.

Honey, citrus fruit and subtle nutty notes complement the sherry influence. This double-distilled single malt is smooth, creamy and full-bodied. It is bottled at 46% in a bottle containing 0.7 litres and comes in a presentation tube.

Today's Tyrconnell is produced by Cooley Distillery in Riverstown, County Louth, Ireland. The brand's single malt is distilled twice. This approach aims to preserve the spirit's character while giving it a creamy, rich texture.

The brand takes its name from a racehorse that unexpectedly won the National Produce Stakes in 1876. Distiller A.A. Watt celebrated the victory with a whiskey initially intended as a one-off release. Its success made Tyrconnell a permanent part of his range. The horse-racing scene on the label preserves this connection; today, the Kilbeggan Distilling Company manages the brand.
