Special Features:

Lot 88 is a single-cask bottling from the Bons Bois cru. The Cognac matured for approximately 35 years in French oak cask 0116 and was bottled in 2023 as Brut de Fût, meaning at cask strength, at 48.3%. The release comprises 500 bottles. The Cognac is neither chill-filtered nor coloured.

Its earthy character brings together mushrooms, forest floor and spicy wood notes. Cocoa, praline and concentrated fruit provide a sweet contrast, while floral impressions complement its powerful structure.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, undergrowth and mushrooms mingle with linden and vine blossom, citrus notes and spicy wood. Over time, impressions of cigar box, candied fruit, cocoa and praline develop.
• Palate: On the palate, the Cognac is intense, lively and supple. The sweetness of concentrated dried fruit and candied fruit combines with peppery spice.
• Finish: The finish is long, with delicate notes of jasmine, vanilla and toasted hazelnuts.

Distillery/Bottler:

Around 1850, Georges Vallein established a trading and Cognac house at Domaine des Forges in Chermignac. Louis Vallein had brought the estate into family ownership in 1791. Now in its sixth generation, Vallein Tercinier continues the family tradition, with the cellar masters' knowledge passed down through successive generations.

The house's history includes a distillery with eight stills, which worked both for its own production and for other Cognac trading houses in the decades following the Second World War. In the 1990s, Louis Tercinier took charge of production, while Catherine managed the commercial side. Alongside blends, the house offers single-cask Cognacs such as Lot 88, which preserve the character of an individual cask.
