Special Features:
For this Napoléon, Vallein Tercinier blends Cognacs from Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne, made from the Ugni Blanc grape variety. The Cognac matures for fifteen years exclusively in oak casks. Floral and fruity notes combine with a light palate and restrained spice.
The Greg decanter holds 0.7 litres of Cognac at 40% alcohol and comes with gift packaging. The Cognac contains no colouring. This bottling won a gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2022 and a silver medal at the International Wine & Spirit Competition in London in 2018.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: On the nose, brown sugar and caramel sit alongside lavender, vanilla and lime. The bouquet also reveals woody notes and a hint of linden blossom.
- Palate: The Cognac feels light and silky on the palate, with little spice and restrained tannins. Jam and marmalade complement apricot and lime, joined by liquorice, marzipan and the spicy note of sandalwood.
- Finish: The finish lingers, leaving delicate woody notes.
Distillery/Bottler:
Vallein Tercinier has its roots at the Domaine des Forges in Chermignac. Louis Vallein bought the estate in 1791; Georges Vallein established the trading business in 1850 and began selling bottled Cognac. He combined his work as an estate owner and distiller with the wine and spirits trade. Expertise in blending Cognacs has been passed down through six generations of cellar masters.
The house carries out its production in Chermignac, from distillation through to bottling. Its history also includes producing for other trading houses: in the decades after the Second World War, eight stills supplied both Vallein Tercinier itself and numerous Cognac merchants. In the 1990s, Louis and Catherine Tercinier divided responsibility for the agricultural activities and the trading business between them.
