Special Features:

Long cask maturation followed by storage in glass demijohns shapes Vallein Tercinier's Lot 30. This Cognac from 1930 comes from Petite Champagne and matured for decades in Limousin oak. The single-cask release yielded 238 bottles from French oak cask no. 030.

Natural evaporation brought the Cognac to its cask strength of 40.6%, without any water being added. It was neither chill-filtered nor coloured. In the glass, it displays a dark gold hue. The bottle contains 0.7 litres and comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, nuts and leather combine with bold liquorice and pronounced rancio. Despite its considerable age, the bouquet feels fresh.
• Palate: The Cognac is mouth-filling on the palate. Prunes and candied fruit meet candied plums and raisins.
• Finish: Candied fruit, coffee and cigar-box notes linger on the very long finish. Dried fruit, liquorice and distinct rancio shape the aftertaste.

Distillery/Bottler:

Vallein Tercinier is based at Domaine des Forges in Chermignac. Louis Vallein acquired the estate in 1791; around 1850, Georges Vallein established a wine and spirits merchant business there. His son Paul developed his own Cognac blends and sold them in bottles. The house's history thus brings together distillation, the selection of eaux-de-vie and their maturation.

After Robert Tercinier joined the business in 1947, eight stills produced Cognac for the family company and other merchant houses for more than three decades. In the 1990s, his son Louis took over production, while his daughter Catherine managed the commercial side. The house's historic stocks include long-matured Cognacs stored in glass demijohns after their time in wood.
