Special Features:

West Cork Black Cask is a five-year-old, triple-distilled blended Irish whiskey made from grain and malt. After its initial maturation, it is finished in double-charred first-fill ex-bourbon casks. This finish brings the sweet malt and vanilla notes together with the character of the heavily charred wood.

Fruity accents complement malt, vanilla and burnt wood. More pronounced roasted notes develop on the palate, while spice and smoke define the long finish.

The smoke remains a delicate nuance and does not make this an overtly smoky whiskey.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose opens with malt and clearly perceptible burnt wood. Vanilla sweetness and a delicate fruity note give the aroma a soft, balanced character.
• Palate: The whiskey is smooth and approachable on the palate. Vanilla, caramel and fruit appear first, followed by more pronounced roasted notes and subtle smokiness.
• Finish: The finish is long and distinct; spicy notes gain prominence as the smoke becomes more noticeable and slowly fades.

Distillery/Bottler:

West Cork Distillers traces its beginnings to Union Hall, where childhood friends John O’Connell, Ger McCarthy and Denis McCarthy started out with two small pot stills in 2003. The distillery moved its operations to Skibbereen in 2014.

Black Cask is part of the Classic Blends range. West Cork Distillers triple-distils the whiskeys used, matures them at its own site, blends them and bottles the resulting whiskey there.
