West Cork Port Cask Finish matures in first-fill bourbon casks before a finishing period in port wine casks from Quinta Da Boeira. It belongs to the Cask Finish Collection, whose single malts are made in small batches from Irish malted barley and water from Mullaghmesha Mountain, and are triple-distilled.

The port wine expression has the sweetest taste within this collection. Dried fruit defines its character, while vanilla, toffee and spice notes complement the aromas. This single malt is offered at 43% in a bottle containing 0.7 litres, without added colouring or chill filtration.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, dried fruit combines with vanilla and toffee. Nutmeg and black pepper add spicy touches.
• Palate: The palate shows pronounced sweetness, accompanied by dried fruit notes.
• Finish: The short finish reveals malt, berries, caramel, citrus notes and oak.

Distillery/Bottler:

West Cork Distillers was founded in 2003 by childhood friends John O’Connell, Ger McCarthy and Denis McCarthy. Their first distillations took place in a room behind Denis’ house in Union Hall. They used two small stills purchased from a Swiss spirits producer. In 2014, the company moved to a new distillery in Skibbereen.

Today, West Cork Distillers brings together distillation, cask storage and bottling at its Marsh Road site. The distillery operates both pot stills and column stills, with twelve warehouses on the premises. The bottling facilities are also on site, bringing the various production stages together in one location.
