Maturation predominantly in new oak casks shapes the toasted, fruity character of Hennessy V.S. Selected eaux-de-vie are blended together for this assemblage. V.S stands for Very Special and denotes this Cognac’s age classification.

Its bold yet rounded flavour also lends itself to cocktails and simple mixed drinks. This version contains 0.7 litres of Cognac at 40% alcohol and comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The Cognac initially reveals aromas of freshly toasted bread, roasted almonds and brown sugar. More delicate grape notes then complement the bouquet.
• Palate: The palate is intensely aromatic and rich. Its creamy texture combines with vanilla notes.
• Finish: The finish is fresh, with floral notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

The house of Hennessy is rooted in the Charente and traces its origins to Irish-born Richard Hennessy. Production begins with Ugni-Blanc grapes from the Cognac region. The resulting wine is distilled twice in traditional copper Charentais stills. The heart of the second distillation is selected for subsequent cask maturation.

Selecting and monitoring the eaux-de-vie are central responsibilities of the tasting committee. It meets daily at 11 a.m.; accepted spirits are tasted again at least once a year during maturation. Differences in cellar humidity influence their development: in more humid cellars near the Charente, they can become softer and rounder, while drier cellars encourage a more pronounced character. The Master Blender draws on these stocks to create the blends.
